Type Locality and Naming

Along the Tabakbulak kolkhoz, N. Nuratau Ridge. P.N. Podkopaev et al. in 1961 (460, p. 155). Stratotype - Tabakbulak kolkhoz area.

Synonym: Tabakbulakskaya Formation, Табакбулакская св.


Lithology and Thickness

Light gray, massive, biogenic, stromatolitic, biosparitic limestones. Thickness about 250 m.

Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

The contact with the underlying deposits of the Semizsalyapin sub-suite (Semizalpin Fm) is conformable

Upper contact

The upper boundary is unknown.

Regional extent

Northern foothills of the S. Nuratau Ridge, marginal part of the northeastern slope of the central part of the Pistalitau Ridge. It is correlated with the "Walsortian" or "Sargardonian" organogenic structures of the Chatkal-Kuramin region.

Contains conodonts - Neopolygnathus kylosjensis (Nigm.), Gnathodus typicus Coop., Dollymae bouckaerti Groes. and others; brachiopods - Palaeochoristites čatkalicus Dik.
